I ordered wedding catering from Gulshan. It was fantastic. The service, food and accommodations were great and really showed how much they care about their customers. Highly recommend!! The team worked very closely with us to ensure our needs were met and they went above & beyond.. Truly grateful for the entire Gulshan Team!

Gulshan Cafe, in my opinion, they gained popularity in a very short time. The restaurant mainly serves Bangladeshi dishes, offering delicious options for breakfast, lunch, and brunch. Their snacks are so delicious,we ordered their hot samosas, singaras, patties and rolls with their special mint chutney and a cup of tea, a perfect combination that satisfied both our heart and stomach. Their rice pudding, malai mishty, and laddus are also very delicious. The kebabs are flavorful and go wonderfully with polao, biryani, or even just with chutney(tamarind & mind). They also offer a variety of fish and meat dishes, Tehari and biryani also popular. Their Chilli Chicken just The best part is that their prices are reasonable, the interior is aesthetically pleasing, and the staff are genuinely kind and welcoming. I truly appreciate the homely atmosphere, their sincerity and hospitality make the place feel warm and comfortable.

I recently stumbled across Gulshan Cafe and Sweets, a newly opened Bangladeshi restaurant in Albany, and I’m so glad I decided to stop in! The staff are extremely nice, and their service is warm and attentive. The restaurant is very clean and beautifully decorated — I especially loved the hand-painted tables and chairs, which gave the place a unique charm. They have a wonderful display of Bangladeshi home-cooked dishes right in front of you, so you can choose through the glass window. We ordered the coral fish curry, which was surprisingly amazing — perfectly spiced and cooked to perfection. The fish was fried first, then curried with pumpkin and potatoes, making for a delicious combination. Next, we tried loti with shrimp, which also included jackfruit seeds — honestly, one of the best dishes I’ve had in a long time. It felt like a true homemade meal. The chicken roast was another standout — hands down one of the best I’ve had in years. Every bite was bursting with flavor. Their daal was also spot-on. They offer other à la carte items, plus tea and a variety of Bangladeshi sweets. In my opinion, the food quality and taste here easily beat what I’ve had in Jackson Heights or Jamaica, Queens. It’s probably the only Bangladeshi restaurant in Albany — and without a doubt, the best. Highly recommend!

I've had bengali food all over and this is place the most authentic I've ever had. Literally tastes like my mom's cooking. Not like most places that do "restaurant style," the food is delicious and more balanced with moderate flavors like bengali food is supposed to be. It's the closest to a home cooked meal you'll ever have.

We visited Albany on a trip and decided to try out Gulshan Cafe & Sweets, a Bangladeshi restaurant. We ordered beef tehari, goat kacchi, chicken roast, dim chop, and cha. The beef tehari, cooked with mustard oil, was my absolute favorite—so flavorful and authentic. The kacchi was excellent too, with tender, well-marinated meat that melted in the mouth. Chicken roast and dim chop were delicious, and the cha tied everything together perfectly. Service was great despite the rush, though the place was a bit chaotic and crowded. I just wish there were more fish items, and by the time we arrived, many dishes were already finished. Still, overall an outstanding food experience and definitely worth visiting in Albany.

I'm going to say this, this is the first time in decades that I've seen a good, authentic desi restaurant in Albany that is catered to "chicken tikki masala". It's similar to Bangladeshi restaurants in Jackson Heights, there's prepared food on a buffet, you choose dishes individually and they warm them up for you. Obviously, not super fresh but they taste very good. The kababs, tikka, naan, roti, biryani, tea and even their sweets are so good. However, I have a complaint about the goat curry. I think that they cut their goat in house, regardless whoever does it is not doing a good job. The pieces were irregular, fatty and tough. The actual taste of the masala was good, but the pieces made it almost inedible. They need to work on this because it would elevate the whole restaurant. The price is good too, once they fix the goat the food here can be amazing!

Walking into Gulshan Cafe and Sweets feels like a warm hug. The restaurant is beautiful, with colorful hand-painted furniture that makes the whole place feel like a cozy home. The air smells amazing, filled with the scent of fresh spices and sweet treats. If you visit on the weekend, you have to try the Kacchi Biryani—the meat is so soft it melts in your mouth, and the rice is perfectly fluffy. Every dish tastes like it was made with love and real tradition. To finish your meal, the Ras Malai is a must-try; it is light, creamy, and just the right amount of sweet. The staff is incredibly kind and treats everyone like a guest of honor. It isn't just a place to eat; it’s a wonderful experience that leaves you feeling happy and full.

Absolutely wonderful Bangladeshi cafe. The decor is colorful and relaxing and the service was attentive, kind, and responsive. We were treated like family, which is the highest compliment that I give to any restaurant! The food was such a highlight! We ate delicious Kachchi Biryani (slow cooked goat), mixed vegetables, bread (naan, paratha), and of course, dessert! We enjoyed rasgulla and chanar sondesh, which were so delicious they need their own special review (gives me a reason to return!). The best mango lassi I’ve ever had. We will definitely be back!!
